About Folkestone

Folkestone is the principal town in the Shepway District of Kent. It’s easy to get to by most forms of transport, particularly running there!

It has lots of great restaurants, cafes and bars, a fabulous harbour with an attractive sandy beach. You can enjoy a walk in the Coastal Park and let the kids let off steam within the popular play area.

The area includes the popular Folkestone Artworks, a fabulous array of outside exhibits – one of which is used to start the race! – and the Creative Quarter, where we would recommend you check out the many shops on The Old High Street and Tontine Street.

The town includes major retailers and you can enjoy spectacular views of the English Channel from the famous Leas area.

During the race you will run along some historical pathways and maybe see France. After the run, why not go for an ice cream or maybe enjoy some fresh seafood within the inner Harbour area, or even a bag of chips!

The race will commence at the eastern entrance of the coastal park on the promenade. At this area will be the new registration area and facilities within the carpark which is closed for our use. This is near to the bottom of the Leas Cliff Lift. Plenty of signs will direct you to this area and do park within the harbour or Leas Cliff Hall walk up to the start, which will be at 10:00 prompt – don’t be late!

There will be a children’s race for under 15s which is held shortly before the main race at 9:30am prompt (approx 600 meters). There is a wide range of prizes and we encourage corporate teams to enter, as it’s a great opportunity to engage with employees and get them involved not only in fitness but perhaps raise some money for your chosen causes.
